Welcome

This database is an on-going project hosted by the Royal College of Music, and seeks to provide basic biographical information about people working in all branches of the music business (composers, performers, publishers, instrument makers etc.) in London in the period 1750–1800. Some of this information is derived from archival sources (apprenticeship records, insurance records and wills); other information is culled from secondary sources. It currently contains just over 2000 records with new records added regularly.
